The Molly Perinatal Project

These services focus on preventing, identifying and treating mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which can occur during the perinatal period. These services aim to ensure the mental health needs of pregnant individuals and new parents are met, promoting positive outcomes for both the parent and child.

Early Intervention

Early intervention is key to preventing long-term mental health issues and fostering a healthy bond between parent and baby. We strive to have all perinatal referrals seen by a clinician or specially trained case manager within 2 business days of receiving the referral. The Molly Perinatal Project is not just for mothers. One in 10 fathers also suffer from depression symptoms postpartum.

Our Reason

The Molly Perinatal Project is named after Molly H, a psychiatric nurse practitioner who had a strong impact in the mental health field with her care and compassion for those affected by mental health disorders. Molly died from suicide in 2013 at 9 months, as did her son. Her memory lives on with our efforts and mission to provide outreach and treatment to prevent suicide in pregnancy and postpartum.
Collaboration Matters
Insight has collaborated with local OB and GYN’s and pediatricians to encourage screening of pregnant and new months for anxiety and depression symptoms related to perinatal mood disorders, including postpartum anxiety and depression.

Insight understands the importance of providing quick and specialized care if a mother presents these symptoms, we also know the long-term impact on healthy attachment that can be at risk. Since no hospitals in Columbiana County have labor and delivery units, medical care for pregnant mothers is minimal. This leads to the need to have continued outreach not just to OB and GYN’s, but to physicians and pediatricians as well.

Insight has a great relationship with the POEM program in Columbus. POEM offers peer support, resources, referrals, a sense of community, education and advocacy opportunities to help moms and birthing persons in Ohio feel heard, understood and empowered. Insight provides telehealth services to mothers across the state.
