Counseling
Every person has inherent worth, resilience and capacity for change.
Angelica “Angel” Banks, CT
Austintown, East Palestine, TELEHEALTH
Angel believes counseling is a collaborative process that provides individuals with a safe and supportive space to explore their experiences, develop self-awareness, and work toward personal growth. She sees counseling as rooted in the belief that every person has inherent worth, resilience, and the capacity for change when given the right tools and environment. She values the idea that prevention and self-care are just as important as intervention. When individuals strengthen their coping skills, relationships, and sense of meaning, they are better equipped to manage stress and adversity. Ultimately, Angel believes counseling and wellness are about empowerment, helping people recognize their strengths, challenge unhelpful patterns, and build a life that reflects their values and goals are truly essential.

Her developing areas of practice include supporting clients with anxiety, depression, and self-esteem challenges, as well as helping clients navigate through stress and life transitions. She is especially drawn to wellness-focused approaches that highlight resilience and balance.

She holds a Master of Science Degree in Psychology from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Youngstown State University. Angel is currently enrolled in the a Master of Science in Education Program for Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Youngstown State University (YSU). She is a member of the International Honor Society in Psychology (Psi Chi), Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society (CSI) and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP Youngstown District), serving as the Membership Chairman.

When asked what she’s awesome at, Angel replied, “One of my greatest strengths is my ability to listen with empathy and create a safe, nonjudgmental space for others to share their experiences. I excel at building rapport and fostering trust, which I believe is essential to the counseling process. I am also detail-oriented and organized, which allows me to manage responsibilities effectively and remain focused on goals. In addition, I bring openness and cultural awareness to my interactions, striving to understand and respect diverse perspectives while continuing to grow in my professional competence.”

“In my spare time I love to thrift shop and indulge in a good DIY project!”
